Week 24

This week I had another appointment with my OB and I also had my glucose tolerance test this week. This test is done to see I already have or will develop gestational diabetes. This is a form of diabetes that only comes when women are pregnant. I had to drink this sugary drink, one hour before my appointment. Then they drew my blood and if my glucose was within a certain normal range, we were all good. Can I just say that this was the grossest drink ever!! First of all it was fruit punch flavored which I am not so big on in the first place. Secondly, not only is it like sugar overload, but it is that chemical-sugary taste, not a good sugar taste. Of course you can't drink it with anything so instead I had to brush my teeth for 5 minutes. Anyway, everything came back normal so I was pleased by that! Baby sounded good at the appointment, listening to the heartbeat and measuring my tummy. I gained three pounds which was great also! Everything is going in the right direction which is excellent! Baby is still very active; especially after my glucose test. Baby was up all night that night when I was at work. Usually when I am up and moving around, baby is calm and sleeping and then wakes up when I sit down. But not that night...sugar overload!!

Andy and I also went to a Jason Mraz concert at Northerly Island this week. It was an awesome show! Northerly Island is this little outlet (almost an island) here in Chicago, and it has a park and a concert venue on it. It was beautiful! It's right on the lake, obviously, and has gorgeous views of the city. I took these pics from my phone so they are not the greatest but we'll give it a go. It was a super fun night and baby enjoyed all of the music! Our future concert-goer in the making! Andy was making jokes and it was pretty funny, because seriously, we were in the pregnant section. When we walked up to our seats, the woman sitting next to us was pregnant. And then a few minutes later, another woman, who was also pregnant, sat in the row in front of us. We got a good chuckle out of it... Anyway, it was a great time!

Also here is a belly pic for you...end of week 24!
