This week I had another check-up with my OB. Of course the usual blood work and pee in a cup is always a must. And then I got to hear the heartbeat again. This time she found it right away...nice and strong! When we were listening, there was this loud thump. And my OB said it was just baby kicking. It is so weird how the baby is kicking and I still cannot feel it. Pretty crazy but also very cool! I was also weighed and unfortunately didn't gain any weight since my last visit. (I know, how unfortunate right...) Anyway, she was asking me about my eating habits and if I am drinking enough fluids and also getting enough protein. She said that I needed to buff up my calories just a bit. Not that I should go around eating cake and donuts everyday, but adding cheese to my sandwiches, or eating a hard-boiled egg, that kind of stuff. I don't know if it is just my eating at weird times from working nights or what, because I really don't feel like I am eating less or not enough. I should be gaining about a half a pound every week, so I am definitely working on it. My OB wasn't too concerned because my belly is growing appropriately and I look great and baby sounds great. She also said that people tend to gain more weight in their second trimester than in their first. So here is to weight gain and eating! Cheers!
Also, just an update on baby movement, still nothing that I can feel yet. We were discussing it at my appointment and my OB said that it is perfectly normal to still not feel anything. I may just have an anterior placenta which means that the placenta is between baby and my belly. It kind of acts as a pillow which makes it more difficult for me to feel him/her. We will find out next time I go in when we have our ultrasound!!! So exciting! Don't worry, I'll let you know...
